duo exchange

Maja Mijatovic and Jelena Mortigjija-Reiter founded duo eXchange in 1998 inspired by a shared passion for the music of our time. We risked to put two flutes together - an instrument almost made for contemporary music.

From the very beginning we concetrate on music of 20th and 21st century and perform rare to be heard contemporary pieces as well as our own compositions.

Although rather simple at first glance, the purist combination of different flutes - flute, piccolo, alto flute - occassionally mixed with percussive and voice elements, hides richness of sound, colour, expression and atmosphere.

Up to now duo eXchange has held concerts in Austria, Zagreb und Sarajevo which have included several premieres.

Our first CD "duos for flutes" with 20th century duo compositions has been published in 2004.
